Kirstin Malyon specialises in native title and cultural heritage law and is based in our Cairns office.
Kirstin was admitted to practice in 2000 and has worked across Australia from Melbourne to Darwin across to New Zealand and Vanuatu to Cairns and Cape York, where she worked for 9 years for the Cape York Land Council, most recently as the Principal Legal Officer of the Native Title Unit. Kirstin is also an accredited mediator and has a Master of Social Science (International Development).
Kirstin has practiced in the area of native title and Aboriginal land rights for 15 years and has acted for native title groups in native title determination applications, cultural heritage matters, indigenous land use agreement negotiations and other commercial transactions. Kirstin has experience in all areas of native title litigation, from preparation of witness statements to managing complex tenure matters.
Outside of work, Kirstin loves spending time with her family at the beach, horse riding, yoga and attending concerts.
