Aaron Beale
Aaron is a Senior Associate based in P&E Law’s Brisbane office, practising in planning and environment law. Aaron advises developers, infrastructure proponents, landowners and corporations on a wide range of planning and environmental matters across Queensland. His experience includes major project planning and approval pathways, development approvals, environmental compliance, land contamination and remediation, and regulatory enforcement matters.
Aaron has acted for clients across a variety of sectors including agriculture, port development, renewable energy, water infrastructure, telecommunications, mining and urban development. His experience advising on complex infrastructure and major projects enables him to provide practical and strategic guidance to help clients navigate Queensland’s planning and environmental regulatory framework.
Aaron regularly represents clients in the Planning and Environment Court and has also acted in proceedings before the Land Court of Queensland and the Queensland Court of Appeal.
Aaron has a strong understanding of both urban and rural issues. Prior to practising law, Aaron spent more than 15 years working in water planning, regulation and environmental monitoring across regional Queensland, including Moranbah, Emerald, Rockhampton and Toowoomba. He later held the role of Senior Water Planning Advisor at Sunwater, Queensland’s largest regional bulk water supplier, where he worked in a senior commercial and regulatory capacity.
Aaron is a member of the Queensland Law Society Water and Agribusiness Law Committee.
Experience
- Advising and having carriage of proceedings in the Planning and Environment Court of Queensland and the Northern Territory Civil and Administrative Tribunal in respect of contested planning appeals for proposed telecommunication towers.
- Due diligence and strategic advice on State and Commonwealth environmental, planning and electricity approvals regarding the Wyalong and Woolooga renewable energy projects.
- Strategic legal adviser on the acquisition of water assets, including environmental and water regulatory due diligence.
- Advising on environmental approval strategy, port land use planning, contamination risk and mining and quarrying compliance for existing and future Gladstone port infrastructure projects.
